Vice-President, Board of Directors - Remote Position
Harm Reduction Circle, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on reducing overdose & drug-related harm at music festivals, concerts, & other nightlife events, is seeking a Vice-President, Board of Directors to join our team. Our mission is to provide non-judgmental peer education, innovative methods to break down stigma, & empower participants with evidence-based strategies. We also support underserved populations such as homeless individuals, sex workers, & people who use drugs (PWUD) through regional initiatives.
Responsibilities: As the Vice-President, Board of Directors, you will work closely with the President & other members of the Board to ensure effective governance & oversight of the organization. Your responsibilities will include leading the Board in the development & implementation of strategic plans, policies, & procedures, collaborating with the President & other Board members to achieve goals & objectives, & ensuring adherence to governance responsibilities, including financial oversight & legal compliance. Additionally, you will serve as an ambassador for the organization, participate actively in Board meetings & committee work, & support fundraising efforts. Finally, you will foster a collaborative & inclusive organizational culture that values diversity, equity, & inclusion.
Requirements:
Experience in nonprofit accounting, financial reporting, & budgeting, with a proven track record of success in these areas.
Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of people, including Board members, staff, volunteers, donors, & partners.
Excellent communication skills, both oral & written, with the ability to effectively articulate the organization's mission & goals to various stakeholders.
Strong attention to detail & organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks & priorities simultaneously.
Familiarity with IRS regulations for 501(c)(3) nonprofits is preferred.
A passion for the mission & vision of the organization, with a commitment to advancing its goals & objectives through strategic leadership & effective governance.
Time Commitment:
Average time commitment of 5-15 hours per month. The Vice-President is expected to attend all biannual & special meetings, & fulfill their responsibilities outside of meetings.
